People : Thailand won three gold medals in the World Games 2017

In the World Games 2017, held in Waroclaw, Poland, during 20 – 30 July 2017, the Thai athletes won three gold medals, five silver medals and two bronze medals placing Thailand 20th  in the 2017 World Games Medal Table.  Muay Thai competition, which has been included as an official sport of the World Games for the first time, was won by the Thai boxers with two gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal. Another sport, the Petong Double women team from Thailand, who hold the current World Petong Double Women Championship, did not disappoint the Thai fans by winning the gold medal for the Petong Double Women category.

The World Games is held every four years with the sport disciplines that were not contested in the Olympic Games.  The 2017 World Games has 31 sport categories in competition with participation of 3,500 athletes from 112 countries.
